Marathon Training
16 week bespoke marathon training plans for all abilities
Bespoke marathon Training Plans
There are no shortage of marathon training plans all over the internet and to be truthful, some are good and some are truly awful. But one thing they all have in common is they are generic plans devised to just get you through a marathon but with no room for adaptation, no thought given to the background of runners, your injury history, your lack of time to do miles and miles of interval runs and nobody to answer all those questions that crop up as training progresses.
So, what's the alternative?
So, what's the alternative?
I have been involved in coaching athletes for a number of years, I am qualified as a UKA Level 4 Endurance Performance Specialist and have been writing marathon plans for runners for years, I have worked with men and women looking to break 3 hours and those just wanting to complete the distance. One thing they all have in common is the need to follow a carefully structured 16 week plan to put the foundations in place for a successful run.
The Plan
Traditional marathon plans are usually 16 weeks long and this really is a perfect amount of time to build up the endurance for the rigours of the event.
My plan is broken into 4 blocks and each one covering a 4 week period, these work to build endurance, incorporate threshold work, the often undervalued VO2 workouts, easy runs and aerobic work.
The plan can be adapted to incorporate any other training you might already be doing, I believe strongly in the need for rest days, easy runs and cross training and the backbone of my plan is threshold running to build speed endurance and a solid base of aerobic running.
Support & Help
With me you're not just clicking a button and buying a plan that's emailed to you and that's the end of that. The plan is written one 4 week block at a time and from regular feedback via email/whatsapp it is ammended and adapted to change with how you are finding the sessions.
This is bespoke planning, not a one size fits all approach. We will talk about the sessions, discuss how you found them, is the pace too hard, too easy, are you picking up niggles, plan for and experiment with nutrition and hydration, talk about shoe choice, rejig rest days to work better, got a question, any question no matter how stupid you think it is and im here to answer it.
