Rest day today, yesterday's 14 miles was a good one and legs feeling fresh.
This week's mostly about ticking over, foam rolling and eating well, okay so not eating well as such but eating well'ish. Yes I have eaten a massive caramel Toblerone this week but that's Quynhs fault for buying me it.
Working this morning back to back and then a short break so let Murphy out into the garden where he hears the dogs next door and went mental barking and trying to get under the fence. For some reason he hates the Spanish dogs next door, we put it down to the fact he's massively racist. I shouted at him to come in and then in the kitchen loudly told him he was racist and asked what his problem with the Spanish is and then finished off by saying I was going to start calling him Farage.
At this point the doorbell went and it was a parcel delivery where the lady looked at me weirdly and also laughed a bit.
The conversation went a bit like this.
Sorry about that, was just telling my dog off for being racist.
Dog's can't be racist can they ?
Yeah I gues you're right, he's xenophobic actually not racist.
Bloody racist dog.
Bloody xenophobic dog.
Club night tonight and the plan is to do half the session with B team after a decent warm up to keep the mileage reasonable as I'm used to running a lot and don't want to cut back entirely this week.
Now the problem here is B team are doing new Sainsbury's loop which is a bit twisty and has an uphill and a sharp downhill and I think I'll be better on the old school loop, so decide to do 3 reps by myself on the old loop whilst EF and G are doing theirs.
Four mile warm up to the clubhouse and then jog up to Sainsbury's with Graham, sort the groups out and then start my session. I feel pretty good and aiming for around 4 mins per km. Rep 1 in 4:01, short recovery and then rep 2 in 3:56 and rep 3 in 3:52 and I'm done. Jog home with Graham, eat some Toblerone for tea and watch some telly with my fat, racist dog and Poppy who is neither fat nor racist and also not a dog.
Murphy spends the entire night farting on Poppy and I instantly forgive him for being a twat earlier in the day.
Working early then nipping to shops to get some marathon supplies and then pre marathon hair cut to make me streamlined. Still debating shaving my legs but a haircut is a must as is a shave bit I'll leave that to Friday.
Also need to squeeze a run in today, want to do 10k easy along the coast and the weather looks grim so I'll do this after lunch.
Head out early afternoon to do 10k up to Tynemouth and back, the sun is shining and it's a nice shake out run, still debating the rest of the weeks runs.
Rest of the day spent working and listening to Nick Cave, yeah I'm still obsessed with Nick Cave.
No club tonight as it's my wedding anniversary, so instead it's a night of takeaway and booze minus the booze as I'm still not drinking, it's been three weeks.
Three, long weeks.
Head out early for 4 miles easy and a few hill strides, feel really, really stiff and heavy today and takes 7 hill sprints before I feel 'normal'.
Takeaway pizza and a Guinness Zero for tea and an Erdinger, alcohol free of course.
Not entirely sure no booze is helping, my sleep is still terrible but I'm commited now.
I'm having a rest day today, working all day and just eating porridge today. Now I have no idea why I'm just eating porridge all day but yesterday I decided that's what I was going to do and who am I to argue with myself, so today is porridge day.
I eat all the porridge for breakfast, that's the end of porridge day.
I have two onion bhajis for lunch and some Toblerone.
Then I feel guilty about the Toblerone, so I have a pear and I wash that down with some more Toblerone.
Over the course of the day I eat an entire large Toblerone, I justify this by convinving myself that chocolate has carbs in it and I need carbs for Sunday so it's fine.
Parkrun day.
Whitley parkruns not on.
I'm running a marathon tomorrow.
Now I don't know what to do.
I run parkrun every week, it's my routine and it feels weird not to do it, I've don't it before all my long runs and it's a nice shake out so I want to do something but I'm incredibly lazy and don't want to go to Blyth. I convince myself to just run what I can of Whitley course by myself as there's no way I'm getting up early to go all the way to Blyth as it'll be mobbed up there.
I go to Blyth.
Get a lift along there with Jess who's also doing York tomorrow and also needs a shake out run, the plan is just to run steady and stick to the usual routine.
Start midpack and run the first mile steady and around marathon pace and then pick it up for next two miles and put a bit of a spurt on to finish to beat some random bloke that overtook me on the last downhill bit, utterly pointless but good fun.
Spend the rest of the day walking round the shops and then home for a relaxing bath, I'm a lover of a good bath, dim the lights, bath salts, bath bombs, Nick Cave music playing and have a snooze, bloody brilliant.
Then cook tea for everyone, whilst listening to Nick Cave , eat an enormous pile of noodles and tofu, watch Sean Of The Dead and then in bed by 10pm as im up at half 5.
Fancy learning how to properly use a foam roller ?
Not just sitting on it for a minute and going 'ooooo'
